Trauma, Addiction, and Victimization: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Human Trafficking
Human trafficking and substance use disorders are deeply interconnected, often creating complex cycles of exploitation and dependency. This course examines the multifaceted relationship between these issues, exploring how substance misuse serves as both a primary vulnerability factor and a tactical tool of coercion utilized by traffickers. Drawing on current empirical literature, the curriculum equips behavioral health, public health, and criminal justice professionals with a shared framework for identifying these dynamics and collaborating across disciplines to improve outcomes for highly vulnerable populations.
