This course will introduce childcare workers to the physical demands of childcare related tasks and the risk factors associated with the activities and environment in which they are performed. Intervention strategies to promote health and wellness as well as prevent injury within childcare settings will be discussed.

Sara is an occupational therapist with over 15 years of experience. She began her career working in pediatrics before becoming a certified hand therapist in 2010. With this role, Sara was able to explore ergonomics as an area of interest by performing job site evaluations and helping injured workers return to work. She is now an Assistant Professor at Thomas Jefferson University and has utilized her clinical background to look into the health and wellness of new mothers and supporting those caring for small children – of which ergonomics can play a large role.
