The presenter showed how certain areas of the brain are affected by trauma and what areas of the brain are affected in Autism and what areas affected both Trauma and Autism. She presented a case study and strategies to help identify if a regression in a child's function could be an indication of trauma and not just the disability of ASD.

Presenter was very knowledgeable and presentation was content heavy (a good thing). But she went so quickly through so many facts that it was hard to absorb everything. I would have liked her to slow down and give some more examples and anecdotes to help the listener process the concepts she was giving. She also did not use very nuerodiverse affirming speech, repeatedly referring to autism as a "disorder," some of her language would be offensive to ND advocates.

Instructor's ability to describe interventions was poor, and she referred to tools that she did not provide us. For ex., she repeatedly referred to videos on emotions and trauma, but provided no ex. of these tools.

I wish she would have touched on the traumatic impacts of ABA on autistic individuals. Also she specifically mentioned why she uses person first language which is directly against the vast majority of polling done with adult autistics who prefer identity first language. I have a very difficult time watching your Autism trainings as a parent to two autistic children and the spouse to an autistic man. This one was better than the last, but there are still so many myths being perpetuated.

I love this field of work and am intrigued by this kind of practice. Working with clients who have ASD, trauma is something that is often overlooked so being able to que in on tips and tricks to identify trauma before triggering a client to relive an past-traumatic experience is very enlightening.

Very insightful and an eye-opener. been working for so many years with children or individuals with autism and overlooked how the symptoms of ASD can be symptoms of trauma. I feel this topic is very important for all service providers to learn and understand to ensure any changes or challenges in behaviours in children or individuals with autism could be signs for trauma.

I liked her case example of Kevin at the end, but most of the content was very basic. This was very helpful in my current practice. I know a lot about trauma, but little to nothing about autism. This was very helpful to understand how autism affects the brain and the symptoms with and without trauma involved. It made a lot of sense and will help me with my current ASD patient who experienced complex trauma. There were great resources listed for grounding techniques and things to consider. This will directly impact my practice so thank you for the information.
