Meet speech-language pathologist and Continued member Joanne Chase

Our story is as much about our members as it is about us.

Speech-language pathologist Joanne Chase, MS, CCC-SLP, joins the Continued community from Eugene, Oregon, where she works in an area school district. Chase is part of an education evaluation team that serves kindergarten through 12th grade students across two counties. She evaluates and works with students with a variety of challenges, including communication disorders and autism.

"I learn so much from the broad range of students I work with ... I aim to help students love learning and know themselves."

Speech-language pathologist and continued member Joanne ChaseWhat do you like most about what you do?

I like how varied my work is and the independence I have but also the collaboration with my fellow evaluation team members.

Why are you passionate about your field?

I learn so much from the broad range of students I work with! The field is so varied and there is always a new twist. From the range of treatment options to the presentations of the kiddos, there is never a dull moment! I aim to help students love learning and know themselves.

What value does online learning hold for you?

Online learning keeps me up-to-date on treatment approaches and team-based growth. I feel like I can advance my skills and knowledge in a way that works with my busy schedule. I love to download audio courses and listen on the way to and from the schools I serve.

What impact has Continued had on your ability to advance your training or apply new skills to your area of practice?

My confidence has grown in that I can speak knowledgeably about treatments and issues, I can try different approaches I've learned, and I can share my knowledge with colleagues. This field is so vast! Continued has been a wonderful tool for keeping me moving forward in an affordable and accessible way.

Thank you, Joanne Chase, for being a part of our Continued story.
