State Approval Information for California
The following courses are accepted by the Respiratory Care Board of California. They accept courses approved by AARC, and these courses have been approved by AARC for Continuing Respiratory Care Education.
- The 3-hour Law and Professional Ethics course must be provided by the AARC or the California Society for Respiratory Care.
- There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
- First renewal period only requires 15 hours.
- As of January 1st, 2024 (implementation schedule):
- At least 15 hours must be obtained in traditional live courses. With Continued, live webinars may be used to meet the traditional course requirement.
- A minimum of 15 hours must be directly related to the clinical practice of respiratory care. Continued offers courses that may meet the clinical practice requirement.
- A minimum of 10 hours must be directly related to RCP leadership. Continued offers courses that may meet the leadership requirement.
