State Approval Information for New Jersey
The following courses are accepted by the New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care. They accept courses approved by AARC, and these courses have been approved by AARC for Continuing Respiratory Care Education.
- There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
- For credit hours in excess of the 30 credit hours required, a licensee may apply no more than five of those credits to the CE requirement the following biennial period only, so long as those additional credits were completed within one year prior to the end of the biennial licensing period.
- 1 credit hour in infection control required. Continued offers a course that may meet the infection control requirement.
- 1 credit hour in patient safety/medical errors required. Continued offers courses to meet the patient safety/medical errors requirement.
- 1 credit hour in ethics required. Continued offers courses to meet the ethics requirement.
- At least 20 credit hours in other respiratory care clinical practices; any remaining credits in any healthcare field.
- Applicants for initial licensure are exempt from the continuing education requirements for the initial biennial period of licensure.
