How many CEUs does New Jersey require for respiratory therapists?

Can I use this site to earn my continuing education hours?

  • Yes, courses are approved by AARC for CRCE credit, and the New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care accepts AARC-approved courses for CEUs.

Other Information

  • There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
  • For credit hours in excess of the 30 credit hours required, a licensee may apply no more than five of those credits to the CE requirement the following biennial period only, so long as those additional credits were completed within one year prior to the end of the biennial licensing period.
  • 1 credit hour in infection control required
  • 1 credit hour in patient safety/medical errors required
  • 1 credit hour in ethics required
  • At least 20 credit hours in other respiratory care clinical practices; any remaining credits in any healthcare field.
  • Applicants for initial licensure are exempt from the continuing education requirements for the initial biennial period of licensure.
