How do I complete a course?

After registering for a course, members must view 100% of the course content to earn credit. After participating in a live, video, audio, or text-based course, you will be required to obtain a passing score of 70% on a multiple-choice examination. You will be given immediate feedback regarding the results of your exam and the opportunity to repeat the exam once if necessary. To earn credit for a live webinar, you must be logged in for the entire event and complete the exam within 7 days; for a video, audio, or text-based course, you must view 100% of course content and complete the exam within 30 days of the course registration date. If you do not complete the exam within that time, you may re-register for the course. You can access your CE exams by clicking on Dashboard or Pending Courses on the navigation sidebar. After passing the exam, you will be asked to complete a course evaluation, after which your certificate of completion will be available. Please note that you will not be allowed to complete more than 24 hours of coursework on any calendar day.

Who keeps track of how many CE/CEUs have been earned?

Continued maintains a record of your completed coursework. After you log in, navigate to your menu panel on the left side of your window and select Transcripts. In the upper right corner of the page, you will see an option to export a PDF of your transcripts. You can also save or print your certificates individually by selecting View Certificate to the right of each course title listed on your My Transcripts page. To view courses completed prior to the current year, you will need to change the start and end dates at the top of the Transcripts page and select Search. You may access this page at any time to view courses that you have completed.

Course Approvals

Continued Psychology is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Continued Psychology is also recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Psychology as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed psychologists #PSY-0228.

Not all courses will be offered for the same credits, and it is incumbent on the licensee to understand the continuing education regulations for their license. To facilitate your course search, the state drop-down menu sorts the course library by courses most likely to meet continuing education needs for psychologists licensed in the selected state. Information on our State Pages can provide a brief summary of the requirements for each state and additional guidance on how to use the Continued Psychology library to meet your continuing education needs.

This webpage reviews some of the primary types of credits that may be offered for Continued Psychology courses.

What is the difference between CE Credit and CEUs?

Course duration or credit is measured differently by different entities. The “CEU” is the internationally recognized standard for continuing education and training, developed and overseen by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET). One (1.0) CEU is defined as 10 hours of participation in coursework. Therefore, a single hour of participation in a course is equal to 0.1 CEUs. Continued is accredited by IACET and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU. “CE” is the term used by the American Psychological Association (APA) to calculate credit for courses offered by approved providers. A CE credit, or 1.0 CE, is defined by APA as 60 minutes of instruction.

I am a mental health or behavioral health professional, but I am not a psychologist. Can I take courses on Continued Psychology?

Continued Psychology courses are developed for psychologists, specifically to support CE requirements for license renewal. Considering that there is overlap in scope of practice and target client population between psychologists and other mental health professionals, some of our courses may be applicable to other professionals. It is up to the licensee to select courses pertinent to their scope of practice and to determine the board rules for their particular license and state. Continued Psychology is an APA approved sponsor of continuing education.

You may change your reporting preference until the course has been reported.

To ensure that your CE credits are reported properly to CE Broker, you must verify that your Continued professional profile (in your Account Settings) is up-to-date and follows these specific formatting instructions:

  • Florida: Include both the alpha and numeric portions of your license (e.g., PY123)
  • Michigan: Include only the numeric portion of your license (e.g., 6301123456)

If your profile is not accurate, your coursework may not be reported to CE Broker. Remember that this reporting feature applies only if you are a member of CE Broker and would like CE Broker to maintain a record of your CE credits. Please allow 15 days following the course completion date before contacting Continued Psychology regarding course reporting.

Please note that if you did not request Continued Psychology to report a course you completed more than 45 days ago, you must self-report your coursework to CE Broker.
