February 10, 2017 – ASHFoundation just announced the appointment of Stacy L Williams, PhD, CHSE to its Board of Trustees. Dr. Williams is Chief Operations Officer of Allied Health Media and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University. She is an OSLHA fellow of the association and a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator. She has researched and presented on the topics of virtual world technology, immersive virtual reality systems, simulations and serious gaming applications for the SLP profession at various state, national and international conferences.
“I’m very excited to step into an active role on the board because it offers me an opportunity to give back to my profession,” says Dr. Williams. “My career path has included teaching, research, clinical work and business and this feels like a culmination of my accomplishments. It gives me a chance to support the next generation of SLPs in achieving their career goals and improving the lives of the patients they serve.”
Long recognized for her ongoing research focused on integrating simulation technology into the field of speech-language pathology, she has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards. Of her work, Dr. Williams says, “Every day I get to do what I love - develop innovative online technology applications for the allied health professions that provide a valuable service and resource to clinicians. I'm proud to be a part of that innovation."
