The Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) has announced two scholarship recipients supported by the AudiologyOnline Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program.
The AudiologyOnline Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program recognizes Student Academy of Doctors of Audiology (SADA) members who demonstrate academic excellence, contribute to their community outside of the classroom, and have a compelling vision for audiology’s future.
This year’s recipients of $2500 each are Shannon Kim and Elizabeth Medlock.
Kim is an AuD student at A.T. Still University.
"I am incredibly grateful for this scholarship,” Kim said. “The lifetime access to resources on AudiologyOnline and the financial scholarship award will help me to succeed in my career. I look forward to being an empathic audiologist with strong clinical skills and to show the value of our services in healthcare."
Medlock is an AuD student at the University of Louisville.
“My doctorate career has been an amazing experience, where I have learned about how to successfully deliver the best patient-centered care in audiology, but this opportunity has also come with a large financial responsibility,” Medlock said. “This scholarship means so much to me because it helps ease the financial burden associated with graduate school. I am beyond grateful to be a recipient of this year's Emerging Leaders scholarship.”
In addition to the scholarship, both recipients will receive a lifetime membership to AudiologyOnline to support their lifelong learning.
“As a doctorate-level profession, we recognize that audiology requires intense personal and professional commitments from students over many years,” said Christy Huynh, AuD, managing editor of AudiologyOnline.
“Audiology care is an important part of overall healthcare for people of all ages, and the demand for audiologists is projected to grow exponentially in the next few years. We see these scholarships as a means to help support talented audiology students and also as an investment in the future of our profession.”
