AOTF announces latest scholarship recipients supported by OccupationalTherapy.com

The American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) has announced two scholarship recipients supported by a contribution from OccupationalTherapy.com.

OccupationalTherapy.com donated $10,000 to the AOTF Scholarship Program, which benefits qualified students currently enrolled full time in accredited occupational therapy educational programs.

This year’s recipients of $5000 scholarships each are:

Julamy Serrano Arocho, Brenau University

“In 2021, my husband, our then 8-month-old baby boy, and I made a life-changing decision—we packed up our home and moved so I could pursue my dream of becoming an occupational therapist. It was a bold leap of faith, one that required me to leave behind a stable and fulfilling career as an active duty service member. Winning the OccupationalTherapy.com scholarship was more than just an award. It was a powerful affirmation that I had made the right choice. While instant gratification has its place, there’s something incredibly meaningful about being recognized after years of dedication, perseverance, and unwavering belief in a dream. It was a moment that reminded me just how far we had come, and how worth it the journey has been.”

Katherine Haynes, Colorado State University

“I am incredibly honored to receive AOTF’s OccupationalTherapy.com Scholarship! This generous award is a tremendous source of financial support as I continue working toward my OTD at CSU. It comes at a pivotal time, as I also prepare to begin an interprofessional fellowship in psychosocial rehabilitation—a unique opportunity to deepen my expertise in mental health and recovery-oriented care. I am deeply grateful to OccupationalTherapy.com for empowering me to continue to advocate for the vital role of occupational therapy in mental health and substance use recovery.”

OccupationalTherapy.com has supported the AOTF Scholarship Program since 2015, awarding scholarships to outstanding applicants who are pursuing post-baccalaureate degrees in occupational therapy.

“OccupationalTherapy.com is proud to support these two recipients as well as future students,” said senior strategic content developer Fawn Carson, OTD, OTR/L, ATP. “Our goal is to provide top-notch courses to professionals in the field. What better way to embody this philosophy than helping the clinicians of tomorrow?”
