How many CE hours does New York require for social workers?

• LMSW/LCSW: 36 hours every 3 years. Licenses expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Social Work?

Yes, continued.com LLC (Continued Social Work) is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers (#SW-0617).

• There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online; however, at least 24 of the 36 required hours must be through live interactive webinars. Continued offers live courses.
• First-time renewals are exempt from continuing education requirements.
• Social workers must complete 3 hours of coursework in appropriate professional boundaries in each 3-year registration period. Continued offers courses that may meet this requirement.
• There is a one-time requirement, at initial licensure, to complete two hours of coursework or training regarding the identification and reporting of child abuse and maltreatment. The board must approve this course. We do not currently offer this course.
