How many CE hours does New Jersey require for social workers?

CSW: 20 hours every 2 years.
LSW: 30 hours every 2 years.
LCSW: 40 hours every 2 years.

Licenses expire on 8/31 of even-numbered years.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Social Work?

Yes. Continued is an ASWB ACE provider, and the New Jersey Board of Social Work accepts courses approved by ASWB ACE.

Other Information

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.

LCSW:

At least 20 of the 40 required credits shall be in courses or programs directly related to clinical practice. Continued offers clinical courses to meet this requirement.
Of the remaining 20 credits, five (5) credits shall be related to ethics, three (3) credits shall be in the subject area of social and cultural competence, and one (1) credit shall be in the subject of prescription opioid addiction.

LSW/CSW:

5 hours of ethics every two years. Continued offers ethics courses to meet this requirement.
3 hours of social and cultural competence every two years. Continued offers social and cultural competence courses to meet this requirement.
1 hour of prescription opioid addiction every two years. Continued offers prescription opioid courses to meet this requirement.

Association of Social Work Boards ACE Provider

Continued, provider #1742, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 03/27/2024 – 03/27/2027.
