How many CE hours does Mississippi require for social workers?

• 40 hours every 2 years.

• LSW: License renews in September.

• LMSW/LCSW: License renews in April.

• Odd-numbered licenses expire in odd years; even-numbered licenses expire in even years.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Social Work?

Yes. Continued is an ASWB ACE provider, and the Mississippi Board of Social Work accepts courses approved by ASWB ACE.

• 20 of the 40 hours are required to be live/synchronous. Continued offers live courses.
• The remaining 20 hours can be completed through pre-recorded sessions. Continued offers pre-recorded courses.

LSW/LMSW/LCSW:

• 4 hours of ethics every two years. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics requirement.
  • Please note, ethics courses must be taken by a licensed presenter.
• 2 hours of cultural diversity every two years. Continued offers courses that may meet the cultural diversity requirement.
• 1-hour mandatory reporting. Continued offers courses that may meet the mandatory reporting requirement.

LCSW Supervisors: 

• 2 hours of clinical supervision every two years. Continued offers courses that may meet the clinical supervision requirement.

LSW Only:

• First-time renewals are exempt from continuing education requirements.

CE Broker Reporting:

• Proof of required CE must be electronically submitted directly to CE Broker. Continued will report course completions to CE Broker for approved courses. You may also self-report to CE Broker. The Continued provider number for CE Broker is 50-29950.
