How many CE hours does Maine require for social workers?

MC/LS/LM/LSX/LC: 25 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire based on the date of issuance.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Social Work?

Yes. Courses on Continued may be used to meet continuing education requirements for social workers licensed in Maine.

Other Information

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online; however, at least 15 of the 25 required hours must be through live interactive webinars. Continued offers live courses.

MC/LS/LM/LCS:

4 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics requirement.

LSX:

6 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics requirement.
6 hours of psychosocial assessment are required for the first renewal. Continued offers Clinical Assessment Courses and Suicide Assessment and Prevention Courses that may meet this requirement.

Association of Social Work Boards ACE Provider

Continued, provider #1742, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 03/27/2024 – 03/27/2027.
