How many CE hours does Louisiana require for social workers?

  • RSW/CSW/LMSW/LCSW/LCSW-BACS: 20 hours every year. Licenses expire on 8/31 annually. 

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Social Work?

Yes. Continued is an ASWB ACE provider, and the Louisiana Board of Social Work accepts courses approved by ASWB ACE.

Other Information

  • Social workers are limited to 10 hours of asynchronous virtual learning.
    Effective October 20, 2025, synchronous interactive continuing education opportunities are considered in-person learning. To learn more about these rules, visit the board's website

  • All licensed social workers providing or receiving telesupervision shall complete 1.5 hours of continuing education in telesupervision. This is a one-time requirement. The Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners offers telesupervision training. Documentation of completion must be provided to the board by uploading it to the CE section of your dashboard.
