We've listed some of the most common questions and answers for Kentucky social worker continuing education.

How many CE hours does Kentucky require for social workers?

LSW: 15 hours every 3 years.
LCSW/CSW: 30 hours every 3 years.

Licenses expire based on the date of issuance.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Social Work?

Yes. Continued is an ASWB ACE provider, and the Kentucky Board of Social Work accepts courses approved by ASWB ACE.

Other Information

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.

LSW/CSW:

3 hours of ethics each renewal period. The Kentucky Board requires that ethics courses be approved by the board. Continued Social Work offers a course that meets the ethics requirement.
3 hours of domestic violence and elder abuse. This is a one-time requirement following initial licensure. Continued offers a course that may meet the domestic violence and elder abuse requirement.
1.5 hours of pediatric abusive head trauma required once every six years. Continued offers a course that meets the pediatric abusive head trauma requirement.
6 hours of suicide prevention are required once every six years. Continued offers courses that may meet the suicide prevention requirement.

CSW:

In addition to all of the requirements listed above, as of 3/15/2022, all CSW's in supervision must also complete a supervision training.

LCSW:

In addition to all of the requirements listed above, LCSWs must also complete 3 hours of supervision each renewal period. The Kentucky Board requires that supervision courses be approved by the board. We do not currently offer this course.

Association of Social Work Boards ACE Provider

Continued, provider #1742, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 03/27/2024 – 03/27/2027.
