How many CE hours does Kansas require for social workers?

• LBSW/LMSW/LSCSW: 40 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire based on the date of issuance.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Social Work?

Yes. Courses on Continued may be used for Continuing Education Units for social workers licensed in Kansas.

• There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.

LBSW:

• 3 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics requirement.
• 6 hours of social work safety awareness, one-time requirement only. We do not currently offer this course.

LMSW/LSCSW:

• 3 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics requirement.
• 3 hours of diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders each renewal period. Continued offers clinical courses that may relate to diagnosing or treating mental health disorders. Licensees are responsible for picking courses that align with the content requirements.
  • Due to legislative changes included in SB 131, beginning on July 1, 2025, the total number of hours in diagnosis and treatment will be reduced from 6 hours each license renewal period to 3 hours each license renewal period. This change will automatically go into effect beginning on July 1, 2025.
• 6 hours of social work safety awareness, one-time requirement only. We do not currently offer this course.

CE Broker Reporting:

• Proof of required CE must be electronically submitted directly to CE Broker. Continued will report course completions to CE Broker for approved courses. You may also self-report to CE Broker. The Continued provider number for CE Broker is 50-29950.
