He seems very educated and aware of what leads many of us to the helping profession. However, it felt like 95% of the talks were reiterating the same thing over and over again. I would have preferred more suggestions on how to heal and address those parts of ourselves. Maybe a part 3?

While I don't feel entirely confident that I am able to apply strategies for regulation and repair as it relates to practice and the childhood adaptations and narratives that impact practice, I feel much more aware of myself and how my learned behaviors and adaptations affect my work and relationships.

Dr. McCormick's enthusiasm and knowledge base really underscored and eloquently conveyed the concepts/constructs regarding the many facets of Emotional Trauma. Early Attachment and Childhood wounding is so fundamental to all aspects of relationship, including that of ourselves. I enjoyed listening to this course. Thank you.

Bringing attention to what we can often see in our clients may also be present in ourselves is so valuable. I really appreciated the presenter sharing his own experiences and how they shaped him. It was helpful to reflect on my own childhood traumas and the ways my parents did provide good care. I did find the material a bit repetitive and wish more time could have been spent in specific ways to change our reactions. Allowing time for more questions would have been great as well.

I really appreciated Dr. McCormicks passion for the subject and detailed teaching style. I wish that we had more time and the course hadn't been cut short on time because I feel like a lot of important information was skipped over related to how to regulate and overcome these adaptations. I would have liked to discuss more about the rewiring process. Overall, however, this series is still one of the best trainings that I have ever had!

I have done many trainings on Trauma and Trauma related topics, but this was a very new perspective. I think it is so important to recognize how our own history affects our current practices. I also appreciated the shift from Trauma being something that happens to us, to being what happens inside of us as response; I think that provides hope that is not always recognizable when talking about trauma. It takes the weight off of it.

The presenter was able to discuss how social workers may often reinforce the unhealthy dynamics learned in childhood, inform us how to apply regulation and repair stragegies in practice, and how we can promote healing and reconnecting with our true selves. The presentation allowed me to reflect on the dynamics I learned in childhood and other dynamics and beliefs learned in childhood. Compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, and burnout are very real and this topic is very important right now.

Yes, I’m “successful” but I struggle with being conscious to my overwork and how it is harming me and my personal relationships. I now have some clues /keys that may open understanding and changes for my health and well-being. Thank you so much.
