Dr. Ben Bencomo is an Assistant Professor of Social Work with the Facundo Valdez School of Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University. He received his MSW degree from NMHU and his DSW degree from the University of St. Thomas. Dr. Bencomo currently serves on the CSWE, Council on Racial, Ethnic and Cultural Diversity. He was also recently appointed to the Governor's Racial Justice Council by New Mexico Governor, Michelle Lujan-Grisham.

Born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Dr. John Tourangeau, an accomplished teacher, lecturer, counselor, mentor, author, entrepreneur, and now retired clergyperson, has lived and worked in New Mexico for over 30 years. John completed his Ph.D. in Organization Development at Benedictine University (Lisle, IL) and currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Facundo Valdez School of Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University (Las Vegas, NM). He is also the founder-owner of Nueva Vida Counseling & Consulting Services, LLC (NVCCS), while at the same time supporting local communities in the expansion of mental health and pastoral counseling services as a master-level (MSW) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed K-12 School Social Worker, and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC). Additionally, John holds a Master of Divinity in Missiology from Catholic Theological Union (Chicago, IL) and an MBA from the University of Phoenix (Albuquerque, NM). He enjoys reading, writing, family, friends, good food, hiking, and snowboarding.
