The instructor presented the topic clearly and provided good examples/techniques of what motivational interviewing is, and what it is not. I think the techniques will be useful when working with clients, as well as people in general, especially when talking with my own kids.

One of the best trainings I've had on ContinuED so far! The presenter was very knowledgeable and it was very apparent that he is very experienced at MI. I enjoyed his style of presentation - he did not simply read material but was able to explain material in depth in a clear, understandable way. He also used many great examples. He also clearly conveyed the philosophy behind MI which I thought was great.

honestly this an awesome way to deal with all clients, especially at the beginning. I often use this style as you get more with collaborating with them then mandated. The problem of course is often the outside environment with mandates to treat at certain way or time frame.

THE INSTRUCTOR HAD SUCH A COMFORTABLE COMMAND OF MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING. I ENJOYED HIS STYLE. WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTANT IS WHO DEVELOPS THE EXAMS. GRANTED I GOT 100% BUT IT TOOK A LOT OF THOUGHT AND CHECKING ON EXTENSIVE NOTES I TOOK. AND I DID FEEL THE QUIZ DID NOT FOCUS ON WHAT THE INSTRUCTOR STRESSED. ONCE AGAIN I WILL STATE I HAVE CONCERNS AS TO WHY CONTINUED SEEMS TO WANT PARTICIPANTS TO NOT DO WELL. IT IS REDICULOUS THAT WE NEED TO TAKE A QUIZ IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Dr. Smith did a great job at defining and explaining this approach to treatment. I have attended 3 to 4 seminars on Motivational Interviewing over the past couple of years and usually felt confused. I like the real examples and how he talks about the topics, not just reading the slides. Also, he is the first instructor I have heard that says the same thing I have said for 20 plus years... don't ask "Why" because you only get "I don't know". I always start a question with ANYTHING but why!! It is good to hear someone else say this too! :)
