Allison Nilsen

After earning her Masters in Social Work from the University of Chicago in 2008, Allison Nilsen relocated to New York City to pursue clinical practice opportunities. She has over 14 years of experience in medical social work and home hospice, working directly with individuals and families, and developing and managing programs. In 2014, she earned her certification in Seminar in Field Instruction, and began supervising graduate students from several universities. Later that year, NASW-NYC recognized her as an emerging leader. Allison is passionate about education, writing, and empowering others to succeed, and joining Simucase in June 2022 allowed her to combine all three. As the Lead Learning and Simulation Developer for the social work market, she develops interactive learning simulations for a growing library of social work content. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania.

Kate Whitney

Kate Whitney earned a Master of Science in Clinical Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University in Albuquerque, NM. Her undergraduate coursework focused on Human Development and Family Relations, with a critical evaluation of the developmental life cycle and family life education. Kate is a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) in the state of New Mexico, with over 10 years of experience in end of life care, gerontology, and palliative social work processes and procedures. Kate was awarded the Catherine Edgar Award for Humanity from the New Mexico Association of Hospice and Homecare for her work in these areas. Kate is also a Structured Analysis Family Evaluator (SAFE) home study provider and has worked with many families to provide comprehensive support regarding foster care and adoption practices. Kate is an adjunct professor at New Mexico Highlands University and utilizes her love for social work education as a simulation and learning developer for Simucase.

Dr. Ben Bencomo is an Assistant Professor of Social Work with the Facundo Valdez School of Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University. He received his MSW degree from NMHU and his DSW degree from the University of St. Thomas. Dr. Bencomo currently serves on the CSWE, Council on Racial, Ethnic and Cultural Diversity. He was also recently appointed to the Governor's Racial Justice Council by New Mexico Governor, Michelle Lujan-Grisham.
