How many CE Hours does Texas require for psychologists?

• Psychologist/Licensed Psychological Associate/Licensed Specialist in School Psychology: 40 hours every two years. Licenses expire every two years on the last day of the licensee's birth month.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Psychology?

Yes. Continued is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists accepts courses approved by national associations of behavioral health professionals.

• The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists requires licensees to obtain 6 continuing education (CE) hours in ethics, the rules of the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council, or professional responsibility. Continued offers courses that may meet this requirement.
• Licensees must complete 6 hours of continuing education each renewal cycle to ensure competency when providing services to a distinct population. Continued offers courses that may meet this requirement.
• Licensees are required to complete 2 hours in technology-assisted services if providing telehealth services. Continued offers courses that may meet this requirement.
• Licensees are required to complete a course on human trafficking each renewal period; these courses must be completed from the list of HHS-Approved Human Trafficking Courses for Health Care Practitioners.
• Courses should be directly related to the scope of practice in the category of licensure held.
