How many CE Hours does Tennessee require for psychologists?

• Psychologist/Senior Psychological Examiner/Psychological Examiner: 40 hours every 2 years, due on 12/31 of the year prior to license expiration. Licenses expire every 2 years in the birth month of the license holder (licensees born in even-numbered years renew in even years, and licensees born in odd-numbered years renew in odd years).

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Psychology?

Yes. Continued is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Tennessee Board of Examiners of Psychology accepts courses offered by APA approved providers. for psychologist license renewal.

• The Tennessee Board of Examiners of Psychology requires licensees to obtain a minimum of 20 continuing education (CE) hours in live courses with real-time interaction. Continued offers live courses that meet this requirement.
• Licensees are required to obtain at least 9 of the 40 CE hours from providers who are approved sponsors of continuing education by the American Psychological Association (APA). Continued meets this requirement.
• Licensees are required to obtain a minimum of 3 CE hours in cultural diversity as specifically noted in the title, description of objectives, or curriculum. Cultural diversity includes aspects of identity stemming from age, disability, gender, race/ethnicity, religious/spiritual orientation, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and other cultural dimensions. Continued offers courses that may meet this requirement.
• Licensees are required to obtain a minimum of 3 CE hours in professional ethics, Tennessee rules and regulations, and Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 63, Chapter 11. Continued offers courses that may meet the professional ethics requirement towards the 3-hour requirement. We do not currently offer a course that covers Tennessee laws, rules, and code.
