How many CE Hours does New Mexico require for psychologists?

  • Psychologist/Psychologist Associate: 40 hours every 2 years.

  • Conditional Prescribing/Unrestricted Prescribing Psychologist: 60 hours every 2 years.

Licenses expire on 7/1 every 2 years.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Psychology?

Yes. Continued is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The New Mexico Board of Psychologist Examiners accepts courses offered by APA approved providers for psychologist license renewal.

Conditional Prescribing or Unrestricted Prescribing Psychologist:

  • In addition to the requirements listed above for psychologists and psychologist associates, licensees must obtain 40 out of the 60-hour CPE requirement in the area of psychopharmacology or psychopharmacotherapy. Continued does not currently offer courses that meet this requirement. Please check back again in the near future.
