How many CE Hours does Louisiana require for psychologists?

  • Psychologist: 40 hours every 2 years.

  • Psychologist in School Psychology: 50 hours every 2 years.

Licenses expire on 7/31 annually, but CEUs must be reported biennially. 

Licensees with even-numbered licenses will report their CPD in even-numbered years. Licensees with odd-numbered licenses will report their CPD in odd-numbered years.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Psychology?

Yes. Continued is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists accepts courses offered by APA approved providers for psychologist license renewal.

  • Continued is not an approved sponsor for psychologists in school psychology. Refer to Title 46, Part LXIII, Subpart 2 in the administrative code for guidance on acceptable activities and sponsors.
  • School psychologists holding a certificate from the Louisiana Department of Education should refer to the Department for information about professional development requirements.
