How many CE Hours does Colorado require for psychologists?

• Psychologist: 
  • 40 hours every 2 years
  • Licenses expire on 8/31 of odd-numbered years
• Prescribing Psychologist: 
  • 80 hours every 2 years, including 40 hours in pharmacology and psychopharmacology
  • Licenses expire on 8/31 of odd-numbered years

Can I use this site to earn my continuing education hours?

• Yes, we are approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners accepts courses offered by APA approved providers.

• The Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners defines one continuing education hour is equivalent to one Professional Development Hour (PDH). Each continuing education hour is the equivalent of 1.0 APA CE Credits
• Licensees are required to complete an ethics course offered by the American Psychological Association or their approved sponsors.

• For initial licensure, PDH requirements will be prorated at 1.67 hours per month, including the month the license is issued through the month of expiration.
• Maximum of 10 PDH can be carried over from the last renewal cycle to the next if earned within 3 months of expiration date and in excess of the 40 hours PDH requirement.
• Multi-Licensed Professionals: 
  • Licensees holding two to three mental health licenses are granted an exemption of 40 hours
  • Licensees will need to accrue a total of 40 PDH for licensure renewal
  • Licensees holding two to three licenses are not required to accrue 40 hours of PDH per license
• Prescribing psychologists must complete 40 hours in pharmacology and psychopharmacology. We do not currently offer courses that meet this requirement. Please check back again in the near future.
