How many CE hours does Oregon require for massage therapists?

• 25 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire every 2 years based on the licensee's birthday and odd/even birth year.

Can I earn my continuing education hours through Continued Massage Therapy?

Yes, a portion of your hours can be obtained online. Continued Massage Therapy is an NCBTMB Approved Provider, and the Oregon State Board of Massage Therapists accepts courses approved by NCBTMB.

• Up to 17 CE hours may be earned online. Continued Massage Therapy offers online courses to help meet your CE requirements.
• A minimum of 8 hours of participation in instructor supervised, formal learning courses, seminars, workshops is required. Continued Massage Therapy does not currently offer courses to meet this requirement.
• Massage therapists must complete 4 hours in either Professional Ethics, Boundaries, or Communication. These hours must be obtained by participation in supervised learning or in an interactive distance learning course. Continued Massage Therapy does not currently offer a course to meet this requirement.
• Massage therapists must complete 1 hour in cultural competency. Continued Massage Therapy offers courses that may meet the 1-hour cultural competency requirement.
• Massage therapists must complete a 1-hour pain management module at least once per renewal. The module is provided by the Oregon Pain Management Commission (OPMC).
• Upon renewal, licensee must provide proof of current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Providers Course or its equivalent.
