How many CE hours does North Carolina require for massage therapists?

• 24 hours every 2 years. While your license officially expires on December 31st, the North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy strongly encourages submitting your renewal by the November 1st priority deadline to ensure your application is processed and your new license is issued before the end of the year.

Can I earn my continuing education hours through Continued Massage Therapy?

Yes, a portion of your hours can be obtained online. Continued Massage Therapy is an NCBTMB Approved Provider, and the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy accepts courses approved by NCBTMB.

• Up to 12 CE hours may be earned online. Continued Massage Therapy offers online courses to help meet your CE requirements.
• 12 hours should be obtained by attendance and participation at a live presentation. Continued Massage Therapy does not currently offer courses to meet this requirement. Check back in the future for new course offerings.
• Massage therapists must complete 3 hours in professional ethics each renewal period. Continued Massage Therapy offers courses that may meet the 3-hour professional ethics requirement.
• You may only take a maximum of 8 hours of continuing education in business management.
