How many CE hours does Iowa require for massage therapists?

• 16 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire every 2 years based on date of issuance.

Can I earn my continuing education hours through Continued Massage Therapy?

Yes, a portion of your hours can be earned online. Courses on Continued Massage Therapy may be used to meet continuing education requirements for massage therapists licensed in Iowa.

• The Bureau of Professional Licensure does not pre-approve continuing education providers, sponsors, or individual programs. It is the licensees’ responsibility to determine if the continuing education programs they attend meet the requirements of their professional licensure board.
• 8 CE hours may be earned online. Continued Massage Therapy offers online courses to help meet your CE requirements.
• A minimum of 8 CE hours must be earned by completing a program in which instruction is provided in person or through live, real-time interactive media. Continued Massage Therapy does not currently offer courses to meet this requirement.
• Massage therapists must complete coursework on mandatory reporting each renewal period. A course that meets the mandatory reporting requirement is available through the Iowa Department of Human Services.
