How many CE hours does Illinois require for massage therapists?

• 25 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire 12/31 of even years.

Can I earn my continuing education hours through Continued Massage Therapy?

Yes. Continued Massage Therapy is an NCBTMB Approved Provider, and the Illinois Board of Massage and Bodywork accepts courses approved by NCBTMB.

• There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
• Massage therapists must complete 2 hours in ethics each renewal period. Continued Massage Therapy offers courses that may meet the ethics requirement.
• Massage therapists must complete 1 hour in sexual harassment prevention. Continued Massage Therapy offers courses that may meet the sexual harassment prevention requirement.
• Massage Therapists must complete an approved course on abnormal skin growth and melanoma identification (required for new, renewal, and restoration applicants). The free "Skinny on Skin" course from Impact Melanoma is currently approved, and proof of completion must be provided to the Department.
• Massage therapists must complete 1 hour in domestic violence and sexual assault. Continued Massage Therapy does not currently offer a course for this requirement. Please check back in the future.
