How many CE hours does the District of Columbia require for massage therapists?

• 14 hours every 2 years, licenses expire on a rolling basis on the last day of the licensee's birth month. 

Can I earn my continuing education hours through Continued Massage Therapy?

Yes, a portion of your hours can be obtained online. Continued Massage Therapy is an NCBTMB Approved Provider, and the DC Board of Massage Therapy accepts courses approved by NCBTMB.

• Up to 8 CE hours may be earned online. Continued Massage Therapy offers online courses to help meet your CE requirements.
• At least 6 CE hours must be completed in hands-on, massage technique course(s) completed in a live classroom setting.
• Massage therapists must complete 3 hours in professional ethics each renewal. Continued Massage Therapy offers courses that may meet the professional ethics requirement. 
• Massage therapists must complete 2 hours in LGBTQ continuing education each renewal. Continued Massage Therapy offers courses that may meet this requirement.
• At least 10% of the total required continuing education shall be in the subjects determined by the director as public health priorities of the district.
