How many CE Credits does Virginia require for counselors?
Professionals licensed by the Virginia Board of Counseling:
LPC, LMFT, LSATP: 20 hours per year.
RPRS, QMHP-A, QMHP-C: 8 hours per year.
CSAC: 10 hours per year.
CSAC-A: 5 hours per year.
- Licenses expire on 6/30 annually.
Can I take my continuing education through Continued Counseling?
Licensed Professional Counselors/Marriage & Family Therapists/Addiction Counselors: Yes. The Virginia Board of Counseling accepts courses by NBCC and NAADAC approved providers. Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Continued is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, #283836. Find courses offered for NBCC credit or courses approved by NAADAC.
Qualified Mental Health Professionals: No. The Virginia Board of Counseling accepts courses by agencies licensed by DBDHS or an entity approved by a health regulatory board within the Department of Health Professions. Continued is not approved by the board to offer continuing education courses to QMHP license holders.
Licensees are responsible for completing courses that align with the content requirements for their specific license.
