How many CE Credits does New Hampshire require for counselors?

Professionals licensed by the New Hampshire Board of Mental Health Practice:
- Clinical Mental Health Counselors (CMHC), Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT), and Pastoral Psychotherapists (PP): 40 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire biennially based on the date of issuance.
- Conditional Clinical Mental Health Counselors (CCMHC) and Conditional Marriage Family Therapists (CMFT): No continuing education requirements.
Professionals licensed by the New Hampshire Board of Licensing for Alcohol and Other Drug Use Professionals:
- LADC, MLADC, LCS: 48 hours every 2 years.
- CRSW: 12 hours every 2 years.
- Licenses expire biennially on 6/30.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Counseling?

Clinical Mental Health Counselors, Marriage & Family Therapists, and Pastoral Psychotherapists: Yes. For professionals licensed through the New Hampshire Board of Mental Health Practice, the Board accepts courses by NBCC approved providers. Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Find courses offered for NBCC credit.
Addiction Counselors: Yes. The New Hampshire Board of Licensing for Alcohol and Other Drug Use Professionals accepts courses by NAADAC approved providers. Continued is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, #283836. Find courses approved by NAADAC.

Licensees are responsible for completing courses that align with the content requirements for their specific license.

Other Information

Clinical Mental Health Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Counselors, Pastoral Psychotherapists:

A maximum of 20 hours may be obtained from home-study courses. Continued offers home-study audio, video, and text courses.
There is no limit to the number of hours that can be earned through live courses. Continued offers live courses.
Courses on Continued are considered Category A as defined by the New Hampshire Board of Mental Health.
6 hours in ethics must be obtained from Category A courses each renewal. Continued offers Category A courses that may meet the ethics course requirement.
3 hours in suicide prevention must be obtained from Category A courses each renewal. Continued offers Category A courses that may meet the suicide prevention course requirement.

Addiction Counselors (LADC, MLADC):

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online; however, at least 36 of the 48 required hours must be through live interactive webinars. Continued offers live courses.
6 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics course requirement.
6 hours of suicide prevention each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the suicide prevention course requirement.
For MLADCs, in addition to the above requirements, at least 12 hours shall be specific to the following categories of competence: data collection, knowledge of substance use disorder, knowledge of sociological factors, knowledge of physiological factors, knowledge of psychiatric factors, and knowledge of treatment issues.

CRSW:

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online; however, at least 9 of the 12 required hours must be through live interactive webinars. Continued offers live courses.

3 hours of suicide prevention each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the suicide prevention course requirement.

LCS:

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online; however, at least 36 of the 48 required hours must be through live interactive webinars. Continued offers live courses.

CE Broker Reporting:

Proof of required CE must be electronically submitted directly to CE Broker. Continued will report course completions to CE Broker for approved courses. You may also self-report to CE Broker. The Continued provider number for CE Broker is 50-29950.
