How many CE Credits does Missouri require for counselors?

Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC): 40 hours every 2 years. License expires on 6/30 of odd-numbered years.
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT): 40 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire on 2/29 of even-numbered years.
Addiction Professionals certified by the Missouri Credentialing Board:
- CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, RADC-P: 40 hours every 2 years. Credentials expire on 10/31 biennially.
- MAADC II: 20 hours per year. Credentials expire on 10/31.
- MAADC I: Continuing education is not required. Credentials expire on 10/31.
- Other credentials: Refer to board rules.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Counseling?

Licensed Professional Counselors: Yes. For Professionals licensed through the Missouri Committee for Professional Counselors, the Board accepts courses by NBCC approved providers. Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Find courses offered for NBCC credit.
Marriage & Family Therapists: Yes. For professionals licensed through the Missouri State Committee of Marital and Family Therapists, the Board accepts courses by NBCC approved providers. Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Find courses offered for NBCC credit.
Addiction Counselors: Yes. For Addiction Professionals with credentials by the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB), the Board accepts courses by MCB approved providers. Continued has been approved by MCB as an approved provider #190. Self-study courses (recorded-video, text, and audio courses) are all offered to Missouri addiction counselors under our MCB approval. Select live webinars are are approved by MCB.

Licensees are responsible for completing courses that align with the content requirements for their specific license.

Other Information

Licensed Professional Counselors:

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
2 hours must be obtained in suicide assessment, referral, treatment, and management each renewal. Continued offers courses that may meet the suicide course requirement.

Licensed Marriage and Family Counselors:

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
2 hours must be obtained in suicide prevention training each renewal. Continued offers courses that may meet the suicide course requirement.

Addiction Counselors:

MAADC II:
- There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
- Continuing education/training should include topics pertaining to the domains of the held credential.
- 3 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics course requirement.
CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, RADC-P:
- There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
- 6 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics course requirement.

Continued is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Continued maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

National Board for Certified Counselors Approved Continuing Education Provider

Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Continued is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
