How many CE Credits does Maine require for counselors?
Professionals licensed by the Maine Board of Counseling Professionals:
Professional Counselor (PC), Clinical Professional Counselor (CPC), Conditional Clinical Professional Counselor (CCPC), Pastoral Counselor, Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT): 55 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire every 2 years based on the date of issuance.
Professionals licensed by the Board of Alcohol & Drug Counselors:
- ADC Aid: 12 hours every 2 years.
- CADC: 18 hours every 2 years.
- LADC: 25 hours every 2 years.
- CCS: 37 hours every 2 years. (LADCs who are also certified clinical supervisors (CCS) need to complete 37 contact hours in total)
- Licenses expire on 11/30 of odd-numbered years.
Can I take my continuing education through Continued Counseling?
Licensed Professional Counselors & Marriage and Family Therapists: Yes. Courses on Continued may be used for continuing education requirements for counselors licensed through the Maine Board of Counseling Professionals Licensure.
Addiction Counselors: Yes. The Maine Board of Alcohol & Drug Counselors accepts courses by NAADAC approved providers. Continued is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, #283836. Find courses approved by NAADAC.
Licensees are responsible for completing courses that align with the content requirements for their specific license.
