How many CE Credits does Indiana require for counselors?

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC), Licensed Addiction Counselor Associate (LACA), and Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor Associate (LCACA): 40 hours every 2 years, earning 20 hours per year. Licenses expire on 3/31 of even-numbered years.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Counseling?

Licensed Professional Counselors/Marriage & Family Therapists/Addiction Counselors: Yes. The Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Board accepts courses from NBCC and NAADAC approved providers. Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Continued is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, #283836. Find courses offered for NBCC credit or courses approved by NAADAC.

Licensees are responsible for completing courses that align with the content requirements for their specific license.

Other Information

LMHC, LMHCA, LMFT, LMFTA, LAC, LCAC, LACA, LCACA:

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
At least 20 of the 40 hours must be in Category I courses. All of the courses that Continued offers are considered Category I.
A total of 20 hours must be completed annually, with at least 10 hours in Category I each year.
2 hours of ethics each renewal period (1 hour is required each year). Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics course requirement.

National Board for Certified Counselors Approved Continuing Education Provider

Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Continued is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
