How many CE Credits does Georgia require for counselors?

Professionals licensed by the Georgia Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Associate Professional Counselors, and Associate Marriage and Family Therapists: 35 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire on 9/30 of even-numbered years.
Professionals Certified by the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia:
- CADC I, CADC II, CAADC: 40 hours every 2 years.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Counseling?

Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Associate Professional Counselors, and Associate Marriage and Family Therapists: Yes. The Georgia Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling accepts courses sponsored by an approved provider of professional associations such as the NBCC. Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Find courses offered for NBCC credit.
Addiction Counselors: Yes. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia (ADACBGA) accepts courses by NAADAC approved providers. Continued is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, #283836. Find courses approved by NAADAC. Continued is also an approved provider by ADACBGA. Find courses offered for ADACBGA credit.

Licensees are responsible for completing courses that align with the content requirements for their specific license.

Other Information

Licensed Professional Counselors/ Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LPC, MFT, ALPC, AMFT):

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be earned online.
A maximum of 10 CE hours may be obtained through self-study courses. Continued offers self-study video, audio, and text courses.
5 CE hours must be obtained in ethics from a live or in-person course. Continued periodically offers live courses that may meet the ethics course requirement.

Addiction Counselors (CADC I, CADC II, CAADC):

Education must be related to the knowledge and skill base associated with the 12 Core Functions of the Alcohol & Drug (A&D) Counselor or the Performance Domains.
There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
6 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics course requirement.
3 hours of trauma informed care each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the course requirement for trauma informed care.

National Board for Certified Counselors Approved Continuing Education Provider

Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Continued is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
