How many CE Credits does Florida require for counselors?
Professionals licensed by the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling:
- Licensed Professional Counselors (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), and Certified Master Social Workers (CMSW): 30 hours every 2 years. License expires 3/31 of odd-numbered years.
Addiction Counselors Certified by the Florida Certification Board (CAC, MCAP, CAP): 20 hours per year. Certifications renew 6/30 annually.
Can I take my continuing education through Continued Counseling?
Licensed Professional Counselors and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists: Yes. The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling accepts courses from NBCC-approved providers. Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484.
Addiction Counselors: Yes. The Florida Certification Board (FCB) accepts courses by providers approved by national professional licensing or certification boards. Continued is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, #283836.
Licensees are responsible for completing courses that align with the content requirements for their specific license.
