How many CE Credits does Arkansas require for counselors?

Professionals licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Examiners in Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (LAMFT): 24 hours every 2 years. Licenses expire on 5/31 every 2 years.
Professionals certified by the Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board:
- Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC), Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC), and Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professional (CCDP): 40 hours every 2 years.
- Peer Recovery (PR) counselor: 20 hours every 2 years.
- Clinical Supervisor (CS): 18 hours every 2 years.

Can I take my continuing education through Continued Counseling?

Licensed Professional Counselors/ Marriage & Family Therapists: Yes. Courses on Continued may be used for continuing education requirements for Professional Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists licensed by the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. Continued has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7484. Find courses offered for NBCC credit.
Addiction Counselors: Yes. The Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board accepts courses by NAADAC approved providers. Continued is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, #283836. Find courses approved by NAADAC.

Licensees are responsible for completing courses that align with the content requirements for their specific license.

Other Information

Licensed Professional Counselors/Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LPC, LAC, LMFT, LAMFT):

There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online.
3 CE hours must be obtained in ethics. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics course requirement.
6 CE hours must be obtained in supervision content for Board approved supervisors. Continued offers courses that may meet the supervision course requirement.

Addiction Counselors:

ADC/AADC/CCDP:
- There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online; however, at least 20 of the 40 required hours must be through live interactive webinars. Continued offers live courses.
- 6 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics requirement.
PR:
- There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online; however, at least 10 of the 20 required hours must be through live interactive webinars. Continued offer live courses.
- 6 hours of ethics each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the ethics requirement.
CS:
- There is no limit to the number of continuing education hours that can be completed online; however, at least 9 of the 18 required hours must be through live interactive webinars. Continued offers live courses.
- 6 hours of clinical supervision each renewal period. Continued offers courses that may meet the clinical supervision requirement.

National Board for Certified Counselors Approved Continuing Education Provider
